The pen has evolved from a quill,which is a feather plucked from a bird,dipped in a liquid to make a image on a page..to mass produced plastic tubes containing a plastic straw of cheap ink.Some people like the finer things in life and they appreciate a quality hand made writing instrument that may out last the owner,and give much enjoyment and satisfaction ever time it is used.It is actually better for the environment to since the fine writing instrument is refilled,with inexpensive bulk ink rather than littering the world with more plastic.
